An interactive, scenario-based e-learning module built in Articulate Storyline, using a comic-inspired visual style, scoring and narrative-led progression.
Summary
This learning takes a game-esque approach, combining scenario-based decisions with a points system that tracks progress throughout. Learners move through a series of situations, making choices and seeing the impact play out in real time.
The comic book style, paired with animation and short narrative moments, creates a more engaging and character led experience. Rather than presenting information directly, the content is delivered through interaction, feedback and progression.
Challenge
The challenge was to create something visually distinctive without affecting usability. The comic style design and layered interactions needed to remain clear and intuitive, particularly when combined with scoring and clear navigation.
It was also important to ensure the narrative, gameplay elements and learning content worked together as a single experience, rather than feeling disconnected.
Solution
A structured, scenario-led build was developed, with a scoring system running throughout to guide progression and reinforce decisions. Learners receive immediate feedback, helping them understand outcomes as they move through the module.
Visual design, animation and narrative are used consistently to support the experience, while interaction patterns remain simple and repeatable. The result is a cohesive, game inspired module that keeps the focus on decision making and true to life content.
